Paradigms

I heard a Audio book by Steven Covey, the author of The seven habits of highly effective people.

Although not a book about it, the book mentioned something that struck me rather hard.

It says: If you want a slight improvement, change your attitude and behaviour; be positive minded or perserve. If you want a huge improvement, change your paradigms. So what is a paradigm? A prardigm is a set of thinking that results in your attitude and behavior. If your paradigm states that school is boring, your attitude is likewise affected and behavior results. IF you feel that school is boring because you're under performing, you could try to make school better by studying harder. However, the better way would be to change your mindset of school first before trying the wrong way.

One example he put was that paradigm was like a map. Having a wrong paradigm is like being lost in a city with the wrong map. You could try to solve the problem by being hardworking and walk at double speed, but that would make you more lost. You could be positive minded, so you wouldn't be cared if you're lost, but the truth is, you still have no idea where you are. The correct way would be to have the right map, and everything else ensues.

I come to realise that whenever I meet with problems, I try to be positive minded. With this explanation, I start to understand, that why I can feel self-unfulfilled, when I counter my inability with positive thinking. I know why I feel so empty.
